Stylized blue duotone portrait of a woman with long hair facing slightly backward

Artist’s story

Mark Freres

My name is Mark Freres and I am an artist interfacing in the liminal space of social and ideological constructs. My work, installed within perpetual environments of the Holocene, examines the intersection of human constructs and the natural environment. The work captured in a documentary process, reveals undertones of entropy and ephemerality.

The conception of each project gravitates towards perpetual environments where scale and space become imperceptible. Time on the other hand is alive and presents itself on many different frequencies. Each installation embodies these attributes, reshaping our way of perceiving, adapting to and containing the environment.
