Installed at the edge of the shoreline, Surrounding Boundaries reflects on the impulse to contain the natural world. A vessel, placed within the shifting landscape, gathers sand from its surroundings, attempting to draw a boundary between itself and the environment. Over time, this relationship reverses: what was once contained becomes the container, as sand accumulates and the restless shoreline slowly engulfs the object. The work traces a quiet collapse of boundaries, where containment gives way to absorption and the landscape ultimately reclaims what was placed within it.
