Dry Lake Wading

34°10'36.3"N 116°13'14.6"W

dia.4' x h.8"

Intro

Dry Lake Wading is a composite of a natural and manufactured container, both lacking water. The natural container, a dry lakebed set in an arid environment and captured by foothills seen in the distance, now exposes its contents held at the basin. The manufactured container, a vibrant plastic kid’s pool contrasting against the surrounding environment, appears halted in its attempt to wade through the barren expanse of the dry lakebed. The composite creates a quiet tension between artificial play and the environmental absence shared by both containers.
